New School, New Everything
It’s my senior year and I’m finishing my fourth year of high school at a new school. I’m not excited about this transition. I miss my friends, teachers, and classmates, but I’m trying to make the best out of this experience. It’s my goal to join as many clubs and extracurricular activities as possible. I enjoy volleyball and anime. Although I missed the deadline for volleyball, I’ve joined the anime club here at school. Because of that, I’ve met plenty of new people who seem really nice.
I also enjoy things like reading, music, and art. I’ve been labeled as a very creative person by my friends and family. I love to draw. I have drawing all over my walls in my room. My favorite types of music have to be rock have alternative. I like artists and bands like Ed Sheeran, Cage the Elephant, or The Used. I also sing a little and play the piano. I’m still learning and improving, but it’s something I really enjoy. If I hear a piano song by an artist, I have to learn the keys and play it. I purposely joined choir this year to improve on my singing and maybe hear great voices in the process.
I enjoy working with computers. This year I’ve taken a class called Multimedia. In this class, they teach all kinds of things having to do with editing and enhancing photos or videos. In the future I’d really like to get into something like Graphic Design. Anything creative and involving computers.

Great Opportunity
Although I’m new to this school, I’ve made some pretty good friends already. The school work is also really easy in my opinion, so that’s a plus. It’s nice that the teachers allow you to move at your own pace. They’re also very helpful and seem to like what they do. This helps me feel a lot less stressed in the classroom and makes me feel more comfortable with asking questions.
I’m doing good in all of my classes so far and pretty happy with the outcome of this school year so far. Although I didn’t foresee myself spending my senior year at a completely new school, It wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be.
I haven’t joined any sports like I anticipated, but I did join anime club and that’s allowed me a great opportunity to meet some really cool people. I’ve never been big on clubs, but it’s been a great experience so far. I’m glad I decided to give Lindsay High a chance. I don’t think I would have the friends I do now if I had acted miserable about this transition. I can’t wait to see what the rest of this school year has to hold for me. I’m a little scared for what my life out of high school holds, but I have a plan and I hope to stick by it.
I would like to attend COS in hopes to become a graphic designer, programmer, web designer, etc. anything having to do with computers to be honest. I really enjoy technology and figuring things out. I hear the demand for that field of work is pretty high right now too so I have high hopes for it working out in the end. It’s a reassuring feeling knowing all of my studies won’t go to waist and I’ll get to do what I love. I wanna try finishing off this school year with good grades so I can make up for my bad grades sophomore and junior year. Things kind of took a downfall and I really hope it doesn’t affect me too much.
I’d like to do great in college as well so others looking at my past and current grades will notice my climb in class participation and dedication to better myself. I really don’t want my past mistakes to ruin my chances of doing what I really love in the future so I’m only going to go up from here.
Altogether, this school year has turned out a lot better than I thought it would be and I can't wait to see what other things the future has to hold for me.
First Simester
My winter break was a nice, relaxing experience. It allowed me the rest I needed from school and stress. I mainly hung out with friends and did small activities. First semester was definitely interesting. Lindsay High is much different than the past schools I’ve experienced. I used to think I’d be really nervous and stressed my senior year because I didn’t have a plan, but now I’m really excited to graduate with the grades I want and head off to college.
Before I get ahead of myself, I need to make sure I maintain good grades and stay on pace. I want to look good for future colleges I apply for. I’ve already managed to get into Porterville College (which wasn’t too hard), but I know getting into a university won’t be so easy. I used to want to be a graphic designer, but COS is inconveniently placed based off the plan I’ve set for myself after school. Therefore, I’ve decided to become an electrical engineer because PC offers classes for that field of work. I’ve looked into it, and the pay isn’t bad depending on what I decide to do with the skills I acquire. Honestly, I don’t mind what job I have in the future, as long as it pays enough for me to live a simple life. I’m not sure what job I’ll end up with, but I’m ready.
Looking Back
I’m not nervous about graduation, I’m actually really excited. It’s the things I need to get done before graduation that I’m stressing about. I feel like I have so much that needs done in a short amount of time. I went into this school this year not knowing that an exit interview was going to be required, so now I’m hurriedly trying to get a job shadow done and put on my web page. I also have to make sure I retake a few tests for chemistry and then get caught up in Economics. It’s really not that much I need done, but I tend to get stressed out easily. I’m most looking forward to moving out after high school and going to college. I like the idea of being an independent person and taking care of myself. The perk of being a foster kid is I get a lot of financial aid, so I won’t have to worry too much about money up until I’m twenty one. That takes a lot of stress off of my shoulders.
Looking back on my senior year I’m most grateful that I had the opportunity to go to this new school. I’ve met so many new people and it’s given me a huge break on my life back at Monache High School. My grades have gone up pretty well at this school too. It’s nice that the teachers stay by you and make sure you pass. There’s a downside to this as well. Because they do this, I don’t know if the students at Lindsay High School will be prepared for the huge transition college will have. I’m not worried about the transition luckily. I believe I’ll be able to make it in college. I’m really excited for the future. I just don’t know what it has to hold for me.
